How can we help you?

In serving Passaic County since 1980, Center for Family Resources (CFR) has built a strong reputation for helping community members grow. This has been through educating young children, assisting parents and families reach their goals, and professional development for staff members. CFR has been able to do this by strengthening relationships and collaborating with community agencies to offer programming that promotes the wellbeing of families in the catchment area.

This site hosts the administrative offices, Head Start classrooms and Early Head Start rooms; as well as a parent/staff library and training room. This site also offers the CFR  children’s Memorial Garden and Wilderness Habitat, a Nature Explore Certified Outdoor Classroom.

This site is located on the grounds of the Passaic County Technical Institute and is the result of a long-standing partnership with the school and county. At this center, we serve families from the communities of Wayne, Prospect Park, North Haledon, Haledon, Hawthorne, Little Falls, Totowa and Woodland Park. We also serve the Infants/Toddlers of the students enrolled at the High School. There are Head Start classrooms and an Early Head Start room.

Services We Provide

Head Start

Head Start is a pre-school program initiated in 1965 for low-income children 3-5 years of age. The program provides comprehensive education, health, nutrition, social services, and parent involvement services to children and their families.

Early Head Start

Child care services provided for infants and toddlers ages eight weeks through three years of age in a multi-aged setting. Sites are open Monday through Friday, 12 months a year. Our child care facilities are located in Ringwood, West Milford, Clifton and Wayne.

Home Based Instruction
Home Based

A unique option providing families services in their own homes and socializations twice a month. Home visitors use the home environment to help parents improve their parenting skills and to assist them in creating rich learning experiences that build on everyday routines.

Before/After Care

Child care services provided for select infants, toddlers, and preschoolers whose families are working 25 hours per week or in training 12 credit hours per week in an approved institution. Childcare is available for eligible families from 7:30-9a & 3-5:30p.

Family Child Care

Family child care services provided for infants and toddlers from ages eight weeks through three years of age in a multi-aged home-based setting. Homes are open from 7:30 –5:30 Monday-Friday, 50 weeks a year. We have two home sites available at this time, one in Hawthorne and one in Clifton.

Emergency Services

Center for Family Resources provides nutritional emergency food assistance as well as rent and utility assistance to individuals in Upper Passaic County based on verification of needs and availability of funds.

Parent Education
Parent Education

Each year, we offer parents different opportunities for training.Programs vary by the year, please check with your Family Service Worker for upcoming opportunities.

Family Engagement

There are many ways for families to be engaged in CFR programming. Parents are encouraged to become involved in decision making, planning activities in the classroom or at home, and joining one of CFR’s committees.

A safe and welcoming environment offering family-oriented programs and strength based activities. We provide support, referrals, activities and workshops to enrich the lives of and strengthen connections between and within families.
