Emotional Literacy: Sadness
Sadness is one of the easiest emotions for young children to understand. Everyone feels sad at times for a variety of reasons. As parents, we want to encourage our children to recognize when they are feeling sad and take steps to help themselves feel better or, if needed, ask someone else for help. Sometimes simply acknowledging your child’s sadness is all that is needed. The graphic below gives examples of how to best help your littles identify and process sadness for themselves.
