Parent Education

Each year, we offer parents different opportunities for training. Listed below are examples of some of the available programs offered. These programs could change annually. Please check with your social worker.

Exploring Parenting

This 10-week class looks at new parenting ideas. We learn from other parents and are part of a supportive group. Participants share ideas, join in activities and explore the challenges of parenting. This is one of our most popular programs.

  • All Head Start/Early Head Start families along with community members

A Safe Place

Safe Place is a program to support families affected by substance abuse, domestic violence, or other stressors. Adults and children are helped in their own support groups. One and a half hour sessions are held weekly in the evenings. Transportation, dinner and babysitting are provided.

Funding Source:

  • Passaic County Division of Addiction Services and the Municipal Alliance of West Milford.

Eligibility:

  • Early Intervention, Head Start and community parents and children residing in a chemically dependent home environment.

Dare To Be You

A 12-week program to help you and your family increase parenting skills and learn strategies to increase children’s self esteem.

Funding Source:

  • Early Head Start Grant

Eligibility:

  • All Head Start/Early Head Start families along with community members

EPIC

EPIC is a five year grant to help parents become more involved in their child’s educational lives and to make partnerships between parents, schools and communities stronger. Center For Family Resources was selected to participate in the research and evaluation of EPIC at the Clifton Site. The agency will provide two seven-week cycles in the Fall and the Spring for 15 participants.
